Basic Kitchen Layout Design

There are three major kitchen centres in any kitchen:
A) Refrigerator centre for receiving and preparing food.
B) Sink centre for food preparation.
C) Range centre for cooking serving.

There is a work triangle that connects these three major centres. The sum of the sides of the triangle should be not more that 22’ nor less than 12’.

• Amount of counter space and work spaces required.
• Type and quantity of under-counter and overhead storage required.
• Requirements for natural light, views, and ventilation.
• Type and degree of access desired.
